I don't want to argue with you two because I really like both of you and your entire family is very nice, but we do not call all candy bars, candy bars. I was always addicted to chocolate ever since I was a kid in the 1960s. Even though many candies are simply called candy bars not all of them are, in other words a chocolate bar I would call a chocolate candy bar, and then there are Reese's Peanut Butter Cups we do not call them candy bars. We usually call our candy bars by names like three musketeers or Snickers bar or a Milky Way or a Zagnut or a Payday and so on. If something is solid chocolate then many of us call it a chocolate bar or a chocolate candy bar. We never use the word lolly but I have heard of it and in the United States it's short for lollipop nothing else would be called a lolly except for a lollipop.

It's not confusing let's go back to the history of the hamburger. Hamburgers were brought over to the United States in the mid 1800s from Hamburg Germany that's why they are called a hamburger, in the late 1800s Americans created the bun specifically designed to hold the hamburger. We added cheese and lettuce and tomato and onions and pickles and created what is known as the modern day hamburger on a bun. Burger is shorts for hamburger so nothing else can be a burger, burger is not short for chicken or anything else. If anything else is put on a bun it's just called a sandwich. If a hamburger is put on say toast white toast bread then it's just called a hamburger sandwich. It's really simple 🤔

I served my country in The United States Navy for 26 years and yes the flag is something we learned as children through American History. We never take our freedom for granite. No matter what is happening or how dangerous it is, you never let that flag touch the ground. When we lower the flag each night and raise it each morning that song plays in our mind. As far as I know, Opossums are just called Possums, the O is silent because of the pronunciation made it seem like the person was saying "a possum" and during colonial and later westward expansion and post civil war periods the O was dropped as people preferred to say "a possum" rather than "an opossum" thanks to less than great literacy rates and assumed spellings upon hearing rather than writing. Had linguistic trends gone another way we might have called them "nopossums" as in "look, there's a nopossum". Similar to why Orange is not Norange anymore, but in reverse

I don't call it a blinker or an indicator I call it a turn signal. I'm from the Midwest. But if I call it anything else besides that I probably call it blinker more. People here do call it an indicator

Forgive me, but I figured that since the father in the video said that ketchup was tomato sauce, I would point out the difference in ingredients directly from the ingredients labels. Great value brand ketchup: tomato concentrate, sugar, distilled vinegar, salt, onion powder, spices, natural flavors. You decide if they are the same thing in your mind, but to me, they taste completely different. I thought that it was so disgusting when my mom made spaghetti with ketchup when I was a child.

My father was in medical in WWII in England. He always called the back of a car the boot so that is what I still call it. He pronounced other words with a different accent...such as schedule.

So many of these terms can have variations across the US (blinker, turn signal, indicator) and also sometimes will vary across generations. I used to call it the glovebox growing up because that's what my grandparents (born before cars were much of a thing) called it. Then glove compartment. I learned to talk in the Chicago area, but lived as a young child in New England so I also picked up a lot of different words there (pop vs. soda). Then moved to Colorado when I was 12 and switched up words and learned new pronunciation ("ant" and uncle" vs "aahnt" and uncle). Also, I grew up watching British TV and still watch a ton of it, so there are so many words I just know (and sometimes use) instead of the American word (windscreen, for instance). I also think that 9 times out of 10 you can figure out what someone means by context. I spent several months in the UK in my late 20s and rarely couldn't figure out what they meant using context clues. I am never lost in your videos, with the exception of when you say "deck," I always hear, um, something else! 🤣

About an Australian family who moves to America, and has struggles, but faith and family perseveres! Also there's music and singing involved. Here something you didn’t know…when the rodeo takes place here in San Antonio, and Im sure it happened there too…if you’re not in the arena as the national anthem is being sung….we all stop, remove our hats, and we sing along, in the halls, then when its over, we put our hats back in, and we proceed into the arena….everyone stops, if you’re in line for food, the workers stop, the restaurant employees stop….we wait until its over.
